Bible Study

Mondays 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Tuesdays 10:00 - 11:00 am

Bible Study offers parishioners the opportunity to learn about Holy Scripture.  The Tuesday morning sessions are led by Fr. Peter Balkas, parishioners receive both catechism and Scripture as they read from edifying text in addition to studying a specific book of the Bible.  The evening sessions are led by Fr. Simeon.

Chrismation Classes

Thursdays from 7:00pm – 8:30pm

This five week course is held in the Spring and Fall.  

The class will cover Church history, liturgy, liturgical arts, and other topics of interest to the participants.  These classes are open to anyone, member of the parish or not.Presentations are given by Fr. Peter Balkas for those interested in joining or learning more about the Orthodox faith.  Please contact the Church Office to register, 847-358-5170.

 

Baptismal Seminar & Orientation

1st Tuesday of each month (except for July), 7:00pm – 9:00pm

The Baptismal Seminar is a requirement for both parents and godparents intending to baptize a child in the Orthodox faith at St. Nectarios.  Presentations, given by Fr. Peter Balkas, explain the responsibilities and the honor associated with this sacred positon, as well as explaining the Sacramental Mystery of the Baptismal Service.
