Our Parish’s Vision: To understand, practice, and proclaim the Orthodox faith, and to make the church the center of family life.
Our Parish’s Mission: To engage our faithful through our ministries and outreach programs.
The Saint Nectarios Stewardship Committee has wholeheartedly adopted our Parish Vision and Mission and strives to serve our community consistent with our Orthodox Church Stewardship principles and our Parish Vision and Mission! Orthodox Christian Stewardship is a way of life, which acknowledges accountability, reverence, and responsibility before God. A primary goal of Stewardship is to promote spiritual growth and strengthen faith, consistent with our Parish Vision! Stewardship is a dedication of time, talent and treasures. We do not see our role as a committee as solely devoted to financial Stewardship; we focus our efforts on growing participation in our various ministries and increasing our community outreach programs. In fact, in 2017 our community’s Ministry Coordinator became a standing member of the Stewardship Committee.
Examples of projects we have worked on illustrate our focus on Ministries and outreach and our attempt to listen to our Parish’s wishes and dreams. After completing a Parish survey, the Stewardship Committee made several recommendations, including optimizing our Youth Ministries and Sunday School Ministry, that were adopted by the Parish Council, and participation in these ministries increased substantially. We have also worked with our other Parish Ministries to increase outreach programs, align our Ministry programs with the Parish Vision and Mission, and increase our presence in the community, such as with the Palatine Chamber of Commerce.
At the heart of our committee’s work is the desire to make our Parish the best it can be, a welcoming Parish, a faithful Parish, and a financially strong Parish that can support, grow, and bring out the best in our Ministries. To do this, we need to do our best to listen to our all of our Parish, regardless of age, whether an existing Steward for decades, years, days, or a prospective Steward. Our commitment is to continue to find ways to hear the hopes and dreams of our community, to strengthen our ministries and outreach programs, and grow Parish participation.
