During the Summer Months most of our St. Nectarios Ministries go into hibernation until September. To fill this void, Fr. Peter Balkas and Lay Assistant Dimitri Tobias offer this following Summer Program, open to the entire Community of all ages from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm:

 

KNOW YOUR FAITH!

This class will meet twice a month. Each Month will have a theme and mind and each class a specific agenda:

 

June: The Apostolic Fast

 

June 2nd: Cyberspace: The Double Edged Sword

We will discuss the benefits and dangers of the internet, the nature of video games and the tools to combat these dangers such as fasting, the sacrament of confession, and prayer

 

June 9th : Interfaith Marriage: The Struggle of Walking with God Together

We will discuss all of the struggles that are found in marriage and how to deal with the extra dimension of a interfaith marriage. Topics to be discussed will be fasting, spirituality, marital struggles and the sacrament of marriage

 

July: Freedom!

 

July 14th: Freedom from Sin

We will discuss the nature of sin, original sin, contemporary sins, and how we combat these sins.

 

July 28th: Canon Law & Free Will: Do they coexist?

We will discuss Canon Law, what it is, how it effects us and how laws and free will interact

 

August: Discipleship & Devotion

 

August 18th: Discipleship: Mary, the Queen of the Disciples and our Model

We will discuss what it means to be a disciple of Christ, how we ought to follow, and what is expected of us.

 

August 25th: Devotion: How we show our love for God

We will discuss the many services of the Church and why it is important for us to not be just Sunday-Only worshipers. We will elaborate on Paraklisis, Pre-Sanctified Liturgies, The Salutations to the Mother of God, and weekday Liturgies.
