Learning another language is educational.

Learning the Greek language is like discovering the roots of education.

The St. Nectarios Greek School Ministry is committed to providing a pleasant, nurturing and engaging learning environment where students can discover their talents and cultivate new skills as they study the Greek language and culture of our ancestors.

Our overall purpose is to teach our students the skills needed to communicate using the Greek language while also understanding its relevance and influence in many other aspects of everyday life, including our Greek Orthodox faith.  This further instills in the hearts, minds and souls of our children the Greek identity that has been proudly carried forward for generations.

We offer a variety of programs to choose from for children ages 4-14, as well as adults.

Two-Day Greek Program meets Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:15 – 6:30 pm. This program is structured to offer a well-rounded Greek education.  It places a strong emphasis on conversational skills, while offering additional instruction in grammar, reading, writing, history, mythology and culture.

One-Day Greek Program meets Wednesdays from 4:15 – 6:30 pm and will mainly focus on helping children enrich their vocabulary and become confident in understanding and conversing in the Greek language.  Basic reading and writing concepts along with history and culture are also introduced.  Beginning with the 2016/2017 school year, Saturday classes will be offered for Pre-K to Level 1.

High School Program is available to students who have successfully completed their Greek elementary education. The curriculum continues to emphasize conversation building skills and more in depth study of Greek culture and traditions.  Classes are held once per week on Fridays from 4:15 - 6:30 pm so that students may also participate in Dance.

Instructional Dance lessons are available to all children ages 6 and older who are interested in learning the most popular Greek dances, as well as a variety of other ethnic dances from different areas of Greece. Classes run from 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm on Fridays. Children not enrolled in Greek school may sign-up for dance.

Private Tutoring program offers one-on-one tutoring by experienced Greek school teachers, tailored to your child’s particular needs and may include helping with homework, reinforcing key concepts or conversational-based.  Sessions will be offered at the church in 1-hour increments on days and times to be coordinated between parents and the tutor.  Special pricing is available for families with multiple children or those also enrolled in one of the St. Nectarios Greek school programs looking for additional individualized instruction.  Initial assessment and consultation with parents, child and tutor is free.

Adult Greek Conversation Program is for adults 18+ interested in learning the Greek language or refreshing their conversational skills. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the church.  Each session runs for 15 weeks. There are 2 separate sessions per school year.

Please use the registration packets included in this website to enroll for any of the above programs and submit them to the church.
